Metadata harvesting

Metadata harvesting is the technical service that enables Researchdata.se to collect and update information about research data from external repositories, databases, and infrastructures.

The service is based on established standards and protocols for metadata exchange, ensuring a sustainable and interoperable flow of information.

Through metadata harvesting, organizations can retain their local systems and workflows while making their research data discoverable on Researchdata.se, Sweden’s open data portal, Sveriges dataportal, and international discovery services such as the European Data Portal and Google Dataset Search. Metadata harvesting also reduces manual work, improves data quality over time, and strengthens connections to international data catalogues and research infrastructures.
