Special collections

SND’s special collections provide access to carefully selected and digitized material of significant research interest. The collections are extensive and include their own search tools, making it possible to explore the material efficiently. The digitization of the collections has been funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.

Swedish party programs and election manifestos

This collection includes Swedish party programs and election manifestos from 1897 to the present day. The service has functions to search and compare documents over time, which makes it easier to trace the development of the parties in areas such as policy, ideology, and language use.

The collection provides a valuable overview of the political issues and priorities that have shaped Sweden’s social development, particularly during the twentieth century. It can be used for research, teaching, or more in-depth studies.

New material is added to the collection on an ongoing basis.

The entire collection can be downloaded from Swedish political party programs and election manifestos. Individual documents can also be searched for and downloaded via Search election manifestos

Swedish Gallup surveys from 1942 to 1956

This collection provides access to reports and questionnaires from Swedish Gallup surveys conducted between 1942 and 1956. Users can search among the questions asked in the surveys and examine how questions were phrased and in what contexts they were used.

The Gallup Institute measured Swedish public opinion during the transformative period from the end of the Second World War to the mid-1950s. SND has processed and and digitized the material to make it available for analyses of values, public sentiment, and public opinion in a historical perspective.

The digitized collection is complemented by additional physical material preserved by SND in Gothenburg. This material can be viewed on site.
