SND organizes workshops for researchers and research support staff on many aspects of research data management. Where possible, the workshops are documented and the materials made openly available.
Workshop – Digital tools for risk assessment and protective measures in tabular data containing personal information
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to basic concepts and practical tools for statistical disclosure control in tabular data.
The workshop highlights both the possibilities and the limitations of existing tools and methods for pseudonymization, including an introduction to the R package sdcMicro to illustrate how statistical methods can be applied to assess the risk of disclosure and re-identification of individuals in tabular datasets. Participants are given a basic introduction to the principles and functions of the tool and are then able to apply their knowledge to a synthetic dataset.

Workshop – Reusing data from research data repositories
This teaching package includes:
- a workshop on data reuse that provides both theoretical and practical guidance on reusing data from research data repositories, including advice on how to find, access, and evaluate datasets for reuse in new research. The workshop is aimed at research students at Master’s or early PhD level.
- a train-the-trainer workshop explaining how the workshop on data reuse is structured, how the provided PPTX and PDF materials can be used, and the pedagogical approach behind the workshop. This workshop is aimed at teachers or research data support staff who provide training for students at Master’s or early PhD level.
